This property is situated within the South Downs National Park enjoying a fantastic location in the village of East Dean once infamous village known for its association with smugglers. The cottage itself used to have a network of underground tunnels which linked it to the seashore at the Birling Gap as well as to the historic village pub which is just across the village green. For those who enjoy walking an hour long walk through the downs brings visitors onto the shingle seashore where they can spend an afternoon rockpooling or searching for fossils under the watchful eye of the magnificent chalk cliffs of the Seven Sisters. Other places of interest within easy reach of the property include the towns of Eastbourne and Lewes Herstmonceux Castle Beachy Head and Drusillas Zoo Park. This charming period property is a fantastic example of a 17th century cottage which has been thoughtfully updated to create a comfortable holiday cottage whilst still retaining much of the original charm. Enter the cottage through the traditional hall where there is plenty of room to put coats and walking boots. The property benefits from two attractive reception rooms the first of which is a cosy lounge/drawing room which has a beamed ceiling feature fireplace and enjoys views over the village green. This is a quiet restful room which affords guests the perfect spot for reading or perhaps enjoying a game of cards. The second reception room which has two large ships timbers as beams is a spacious lounge/diner which offers a more sociable space with comfortable seating a large dining table and a TV for guests to enjoy. This room also enjoys those attractive views over the traditional village green. Moving through to the kitchen guests will find everything they need to prepare and enjoy their favourite dishes including a breakfast table double oven hob microwave fridge/freezer dishwasher washing machine and larder. There is a door from the kitchen to the lower terrace of the garden. Stairs lead to the first-floor accommodation where there are four bedrooms which all enjoy views of the village green. The first of these is the master bedroom a light-filled dual-aspect room which offers a king-size bed and a vanity sink. The second bedroom is a pretty twin room whilst the two remaining bedrooms are both single rooms. Also on this floor there is a shower room with large walk-in shower and WC. Several turned steps lead up from the first floor to a pleasant garden room which has comfortable cane furniture from which guests can relax and enjoy views over the garden. A set of double doors from this room opens out onto a set of external steps with handrail which lead down to the first terrace of the garden. There is a further bathroom with shower over bath and WC leading off the garden room. The property benefits from delightfully spacious gardens which are fully enclosed and are spread out over several pretty terraced areas linked by steep stone steps which are waiting to be explored. The owners have provided a table and chairs here so that guests can enjoy the simple pleasure of al fresco dining in the tranquil surroundings. There is some unrestricted roadside parking close to the property and a free car park next to the village pub a two-minute walk away.
