About Shaftesbury Holiday Cottage

Known as Shaston in Thomas Hardy novels Shaftesbury offers stunning views across rolling green pastureland and pretty streets lined with chocolate box cottages sure to have been the inspiration behind some of the author s great works. Walk up the iconic Gold Hill to the town centre where you will find a choice of shops pubs and cafes ideal for a pit stop following a day s walking or cycling. For those wishing to explore the Saxon roots of the area the town museum and abbey ruins are well worth a visit. Slightly further afield are Longleat house and safari park Stourhead house and gardens Haynes motor museum the cathedral cities of Salisbury and Bath and the Kennet and Avon canal.
